Disabling Windows 10 upgrade notification

Many windows 7 users are quite happy with their OS and do not want to migrate to Windows 10, even thought it may be free.

What can you do to stop receiving the upgrade notice permanently?

make registry modification
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx]
“DisableGwx”=dword:00000001
Download Registry update file here…

Linux machine password reset

Once in a while we also forget some passwords. This procedure will give you full root access. Needless to say – be careful.

There are quite a few methods to achieve same results. Assuming linux machine is bootable, this is the quickest and easiest:

Select Rescue mode during initial  linux boot
Remount with read/write privileges
mount -rw -o remount /

To reset password type this
passwd <username>…
